The Canadian Tulip Festival takes place in Ottawa every year and this year, Oliver the Jack Russel x Chihuahua mix decided to have his photos taken during the event. It was a gamble as the session was scheduled on the last day of the event and there was a 60% chance it would rain, but we took the chance and it was so worth it!
Before anyone asks, yes, dogs are now allowed on leash at the festival! Just make sure you pick up after your dog and be a responsible dog owner.
Oliver showed up all handsome and dressed with a marine blue bow tie and we took the time to know each other as he was a little uncomfortable the first time we met during the Byward Barket. Lots of treats were involved this time and it paid off!
We went to Commissioner’s Park, where the most tulips were planted, and took the pictures early in the morning to avoid the crowds (tip of the day, go EARLY if you want to take photos of the tulips!). We even managed to snap a few pictures with Dow’s Lake in the background, which made for perfect dog & owner shots. Aren’t they so cute together?
This picture of Oliver in front of the lake is probably my favorite, especially because I know how the original looked like. The owner was holding him so he could stand on the bench and it was just not going to be a pretty picture… or was it? After cropping the owner and her hand out, eliminating the grass in the background and adjusting a few things, I got this beautiful result that I decided to keep for sure.
By 10:30am the park had gotten so crowded it was getting hard to walk without being stepped on or having some rude tourists step in front of your camera to take their own pictures (seriously people, look around you first, I was right there), so we left. Oliver was getting tired too.
It looks like he had fun though, what do you think? :)
